Pet charities

I don't know how many pet charities there are in la marina, but I know there are a lot of shops and functions for them, I would like to say that At least 3 have been asked to take a puppy which has been chipped and had all vaccinations from a family that cannot keep it any longer and not one would take it, so after 20 years of giving to them it stops now .

Considering how much free publicity the animal charities get on this site, plus the huge amount of money that we the supporters here on La Marina give them Would of thought that a reply was well within order from at least a couple of them.

Hi WINTERBOTTOM Sounds to me just like a bit of a wind up. I hope you are incorrect. For if not I start to understand why some people in the past have been forced to abandon their Pets. So if correct these charities are acting against what we all thought they were trying to stop.

Winterbottom,
If my memory serves me right, It was just about a year ago that you felt you had to defend yourself against some silly rumour that was put about by some rather sad lonely pathetic people, At least you knew it was you they were gunning for. So before you start a vendetta against every Animal charity, I gather you gave them the chance to explain what they actually said, I am sure they must have reasons for denying to help animals,

I have two dogs myself but if you can not find anyone else to look after this puppy, i will take the puppy on a temporary basis until which time a pet charity may be able to help. I will have to introduce the dogs first to make sure they get on. The offer is there if you have no other options.

So two animal charities said they were full, the third one I gather said something else, It is not unusual for these places to be full, what they do is normally end up with strays, who are not healthy and need cash spent on them to bring them up to spec. then they either have them fostered until someone comes along who would like to take them in and care for them. In your case the dog doesn't seem to be in a poor condition, and as usual in La Marina someone has already offered to help albeit foster for a period, so the problem could be temporary sorted.
I do not know for sure, but some of these charities have been known to help fosterers with the cost of having a dog cared for, so it may not be such a great achievement in refusing to donate to these worthy causes in the future, but there again if is your money to do with as you like.

That is very kind of you it would be a great help, he does not have a problem normally around other dogs, he is very timid around people and is a loving dog 5 months old. When it comes to cost of food it would be brought for you just knowing he was being cared for until re- homed. Would it be possible for a contact number.

Before you slag off all the pet charities I would like to point out that only one of the said charities has its own kennels and they have been going for years and have several shops to support these kennels. A) these kennels do not come cheap and b) there is a lot of work involved with getting licences etc. Also for the one with kennels, they are only licensed to take so many animals in so space is at a premium. As you can appreciate priority is given to dogs that have been abandoned. The other charities have to rely on people to foster these animals. Do you have any idea how many animals are picked up every week and how many puppies are abandoned. So with the best will in the world it is not possible to re-home every dog that people decide they don't want, at the drop of a hat. You are at liberty to make your own mind up but i suggest you stop and think before you slag people off.

So pleased you replied Caroline. People are not really aware of all the ins and outs of what you can and cant do. From the outside it always looks easy, but obviously its different when faced with the nitty gritty of what you can and cant do. I personally thought that there were several kennels in the area. So can now see where the problem is

There will never be enough space to home all these animals as long as people do not take responsibility for their own animals. If people had their animals spayed or castrated it would cut down the problem. In this day & age, like birth control, it could be managed. We are not a country of idiots and it is not rocket science to understand that if animals have the tools to breed taken from them then there won't be all these unwanted animals. But whilst people act irresponsibly and don't give a damn whether their dogs are going round impregnating bitches and
their bitches being impregnated then the problem will never go away. If you cannot afford to pay for these operations then simple - don't have an animal. A lot of peoples time is spent volunteering to help these animals and all they get is criticism but, that does not stop them doing what they can, carrying on with the good work. So all you critics carry on, you would find a difference in la marina if all these dogs were allowed to stray at will.
